Saturday brought a welcome change of pace. We decided to do a little exploring on foot.

Pekini Avenue is a busy main street in Saburtalo with shops, hotels, churches, parks, and traffic.
We stopped at this little park along the way to enjoy the view,
find refreshment,
and indulge in some gummy candies.
In covered pavilions men of all ages gather
for an afternoon game of chess.
Flowers are sold on the street,
causing 7-year-old girls to wax theatrical.
The boys stuck together
for our afternoon walk.
Looks like quite a bustling place with lots of pedestrian traffic. Seeing the Georgian alphabet on signs is still a shock. It will be interesting to see how much local language the kids pick up. Love, Love, Love the postings. It takes real courage to pull out a camera to record these things.
ReplyDeleteThe alphabet is still cryptic to me, I can only recognize 2 letters, I think. The girls hear mostly Georgian in primary, so we'll see. I do feel a little intimidated to get out the camera, sometimes I use the telephoto to stay out of the way.
DeleteWhat a fun post! Those bright flowers in the winter street scene were stunning! No wonder they lead to theatrics :)
ReplyDeleteYou know my girls! Thanks.
DeleteI like the apartment buildings, so severe. Looks like a fun family day. Amber, yes Jenny will camp 'comfortably'. She will sleep in a tent but there needs to be an air mattress, the weather should be fair and I have to promise not to get too rustic. She is a great sport about it, I just need to be reminded that I am camping with 4 females not boy scouts. A Black Hills trip would be lots of fun, so would the north shore.
