Parents of students gathered on every level of the central atrium at the girls' school to celebrate Carnivale with a costume parade. |
The procession started on the top level and snaked it's way down to the bottom. |
Some classes chose their dress individually, |
others went with a theme. |
Parents had to be quick to catch a glimpse before the children continued on. A tribal drumbeat filled the air, and the children sang "Bamba li bamba" all the way down. |
There awaited treats, more music, dancing (for the brave), |
friends, secrets, |
and family. |

ReplyDeleteYes, the school is impressive, not a typical Georgian school. The children often hold hands in pairs when they are passing through halls or stairways. Yes it's the same girl, English-speakers stick together. Some parents/teachers dressed up. It was great fun.
DeleteWhat a wonderful experience you are giving your kids!! I miss your beautiful family, but I have loved reading your blog!!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteThere is so much to process here. I'm so happy your kids seem to have found a school home but the language and cultural barriers still seem a bit disorienting to me. I hope it's starting to feel like home.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say it feels like home, but we have a routine and we keep busy. The language barrier is still significant, but I should be starting with a tutor soon. Younger sister says, "It's not like paradise, but it's sort of usual". Elder sister says she doesn't know yet.
DeleteLoved all your pics. What an adventure. Your girls look like they are enjoying school.
